Big Island Whale Watching Tours & Sunset Cruise
Witness the ocean's most breathtaking spectacle aboard Namaka, our spacious 46' custom dive boat where luxury meets adventure on the Big Island's premier whale-watching grounds.
- Maximum 24 guests with uncrowded space
- Room to move freely—follow the whale action
- Small group size means personal attention
- Unobstructed views and prime photo opportunities
Every winter, humpback whales travel over 3,000 miles to Hawaii's warm waters to breed, birth, and nurture their calves. The Kohala Coast offers some of the most spectacular whale-watching opportunities on the Big Island and we know these waters better than anyone.
Intimate & Uncrowded Experience
With a maximum of just 24 guests (while competitors pack 40+), you'll enjoy unobstructed views, personal attention from our crew, and room to move freely as whales surface nearby. No jockeying for position or fighting crowds for photos.
Room to Roam, Not Cramped Like Smaller Boats
Unlike the smaller vessels many operators use, our spacious 46' Newton boat gives you the freedom to move around comfortably and follow the action. When a whale breaches on the starboard side, you won't be stuck in place. Walk across the deck, change your vantage point, and capture every moment without feeling crowded or confined.
Guided by Divers Who Understand Whales Below the Surface
Here's what sets us apart: we're not just boat captains, we're experienced divers who've spent decades observing marine life in their underwater world. While other operators see what happens on the surface, our crew understands the why behind every behavior.
We can explain what that tail slap really means, why a whale is logging at the surface, how mothers communicate with calves, and what those haunting songs accomplish beneath the waves. Our deep knowledge of whale behavior and patterns—gained from years underwater—transforms your tour from simple sightseeing into a rich educational experience.
Expert Crew Who Know These Waters
Our captains and naturalist crew have been navigating the Kohala Coast since 1984. We don't just drive the boat, we share fascinating insights about humpback behavior, migration patterns, communication, and the marine ecosystem you're witnessing, informed by our unique perspective as divers.
More Than Just Whales
Keep your eyes open for our resident spinner dolphins, often seen bow-riding and leaping alongside the boat. Manta rays, sea turtles, and seasonal marine life frequently make surprise appearances, making every tour unique.
